Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage is a talented and iconic actor whose memorable performance in Leaving Las Vegas, directed by Mike Figgis, earned him an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and many other Best Actor awards. Displaying skill in front of the camera as well as behind it, Cage made his film directorial debut in 2002 with Sonny.

Recognized for his altruistic spirit, Cage was appointed as a UNODC Goodwill Ambassador for Global Justice for the United Nations in 2009, and later became a Luminary for Amnesty International.

Cage can be seen in the upcoming films Left Behind, Outcast, The Dying of the Light, and The Runner. His other credits include Birdy, Peggy Sue Got Married, Raising Arizona, Moonstruck, Con Air, National Treasure, Face Off, Adaptation, and Honeymoon in Vegas.

It is an honor for the Catalina Film Festival to give Mr. Cage our Charlie Chaplin ICON Award on the Centennial Celebration of Mr. Chaplin’s acting career as well as the advent of his iconic character “Tramp”. The festival will be screening the 100 year old film Kid Auto Races At Venice (the very first appearance of the “Tramp”) directly before the honor is bestowed.

William H. Macy is an Oscar and Golden Globe nominee, an Emmy and SAG Award winning actor, and a writer in theater, film and television. He currently stars in the Showtime series “Shameless.”

In addition, Macy is a founding member of the Atlantic Theater Company and his film credits include Seabiscuit, The Cooler, Magnolia, Boogie Nights, and Wild Hogs.

In 2013, William H. Macy made his feature directorial debut with Rudderless, which was the closing film at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and will be distributed by Paramount/Goldwyn in October 2014.

Born in Havana, Cuba, in 1956, Andy García moved to Miami with his family as a child. After college, García turned to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting. In 1983, he made his film debut in Blue Skies Again. His big break came in 1987 after landing the role of George Stone in Robert De Palma’s The Untouchables. He went on to appear in numerous successful Hollywood films, including Internal Affairs, The Lost City, When A Man Loves A Woman, Ocean’s Eleven and its sequels.

García is praised for gaining a place amongst Hollywood’s stars with these iconic characters while remaining true to his family roots and personal projects. In 1994 García made his directorial debut with the music documentary Cachao…Como Su Ritmo No Hay Dos, which received high praise from critics worldwide. His role in The Godfather Part III gained him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and has been nominated for multiple Emmys, Golden Globes, and other awards. His prowess as an actor, producer, and director over the years earned him worldwide recognition and international acclaim.


Roman Coppola

Roman Coppola grew up in the world of filmmaking and has developed his directing skills by working in multiple capacities. He began his directing career with visual effects and 2nd unit direction of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, which garnered a BAFTA Award nomination for Visual Effects.

His first feature film, C.Q., premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. His second feature, A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III, premiered at The Rome Film Festival. Roman was a producer and co-writer for Wes Anderson’s The Darjeeling Limited and co-wrote with Wes the screenplay for Wes’ film, Moonrise Kingdom, for which they were nominated for an Academy Award.

Roman’s credits include 2nd Unit Direction for Lost In Translation, Marie Antoinette, and The Life Aquatic and Special Photography Unit for Wes Anderson’s film The Grand Budapest Hotel.


Emmy Rossum

Actress/Singer Emmy Rossum has been captivating audiences with her diverse, extraordinary talents for over a decade. Rossum is the perfect recipient for the annual Avalon award, which honors an actor or filmmaker making waves within the Hollywood community by continually entering “uncharted waters” within their career and standing out from their peers. Rossum’s acting performance in Songcatcher earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination in the category of “Best Debut Performance.” Four years later in 2004, her starring performance as “Christine” in The Phantom of the Opera earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination, as well as the National Board of Review’s “Best Female Breakthrough Performance” Award and the Broadcast Film Critics Association’s “Best Young Actress” Award in 2005.
Rossum currently stars in Showtime’s dark comedy series, “Shameless,” as a member of a working-class Chicago clan dealing with the recession, starring with fellow 2014 Catalina Film honoree William H. Macy. Rossum will next be seen in You’re Not You, opening October 10, 2014 and Shawn Christensen’s Before I Disappear, based on the 2012 Oscar-winning short “Curfew.” Other film credits include Warner Bros.’ Beautiful Creatures, DARE alongside Zach Gilford, Dragonball, Poseidon, The Day After Tomorrow with Jake Gyllenhaal, and the Clint Eastwood-directed drama Mystic River. Additionally, Rossum is the Youth Ambassador for the international organization Youth AIDS, which works to educate young people in sixty countries on the prevention and treatment of AIDS. Rossum travels internationally raising awareness of the pandemic by speaking at schools, universities and government forums.

Jason Ritter is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied at the Atlantic Theatre Company. He also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. Ritter can currently be seen in the Jesse Zwick directed film About Alex. He will next been seen in the feature film Hits, by David Cross and Seven Minutes, directed by Jay Martin. He recently appeared in I Am I, directed by Jocelyn Towne and There’s Always Woodstock, directed by Rita Merson. Ritter starred on NBC’s critically acclaimed Parenthood as Lauren Graham’s love interest.

Ritter’s other film credits include: Wild Canaries, Good Dick, The Education of Charlie Banks, Our Very Own, Happy Endings, Mumford, and Raise Your Voice. Other television credits include series regular roles on The Event, The Class and Joan of Arcadia. Ritter starred as the title character in the Lincoln Center production of Wendy Wasserstein’s Third, directed by Daniel Sullivan. His additional theater credits include the Off-Broadway production of Tom Donaghy’s The Beginning of August and the role of ‘Tim’ in the world premiere of Neil LaBute’s play The Distance from Here at London’s Almeida Theatre, directed by David Leveaux.

Bruce Belland co-founded the Four Preps at Hollywood High in 1954 and has fronted the group ever since. He co-wrote “26 Miles” and all the other Preps’ hits as well as songs for Willie Nelson, Johnny Mathis, Roy Clark, T.G. Shepherd, Sammy Davis, Lena Horne, Donny Osmond, Della Reese, Herman’s Hermits, The Mouseketeers and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and special material for numerous comedy greats as well as feature films, TV screenplays and theatrical productions including two on Broadway.
He’s a three time Emmy nominee and has done voices for “Happy Days”, “Terms of Endearment” and animated features including Disney’s “Jungle Book”. As Co-Author of the Official Anthem of the Bi-centennial of the U.S. Constitution, he was awarded the Freedom Foundation’s Presidential Medal of the Arts and cited in the Congressional Record.
