DRESS CODE & ATTIRE

The Catalina Film Festival is held within Southern California and on a beautiful sub-tropical Island during the fall season, where temperatures can range from the 65-90 degrees Fahrenheit (13-32 degrees Celsius). Therefore, coordinating your daytime and nighttime outfits with The Catalina Film Festival’s dress code is key.

Most of our festival events are casual dress code, but Friday & Saturday Galas and Red Carpet events will have an enforced dress code. If you are choosing to purchase a ticket to only one of the events on those evenings, you still must adhere to the dress code.

TRAVEL TO THE ISLAND ON CFF’s CHARTER CRUISE

Book a pass that includes our Friday and/or Saturday 8 AM Travel to Catalina Island on one or both of the festival’s Long Beach Boat charters with an 11:30PM Late-Night Party Cruise Return.  Depart & Arrive at the Catalina Classic Cruises terminal right in front of the Queen Mary ship in Long Beach, CA (See Photo Above).

The Catalina Film Festival has 2 scheduled round-trip Charter Boats that depart Long Beach at 8AM and return from Catalina Island on an 11:30PM Party Cruise. The festival will not reimburse and/or accommodate any other additional travel options if the charter boat departure is missed to or from Long Beach or Catalina Island.

TRAVEL TO THE ISLAND ON A COMMERCIAL CARRIER

Getting there is fun and simple. If you love the ocean and would like a chance to see some whales or dolphins on your way to Catalina Island, then you can chose from our chartered festival Party Cruise boats that leave from Long Beach in the morning and come back at night, or one of the regularly scheduled Catalina Express (Long Beach, San Pedro & Dana Point) or Catalina Flyer (Newport Beach) boats. Want to go by air and enjoy the aerial view? Get there in 15 minutes from Long Beach & San Pedro or 28 minutes from Burbank with Island Express helicopters!

GETTING AROUND ISLAND

SHUTTLES: All venues are within walking distance, although the festival will supply some pass-holders shuttle service to venues if included in their pass description.

CATALINA ISLAND TRANSPORTATION: If you’re running tight on time to your next event (and don’t want to walk), Catalina Island Transportation is a cash only taxi service that is also available to you.

FILMMAKER Q&As

In an effort to make the Festival a more interactive experience the Catalina Film Festival encourages the filmmakers to attend and conduct a Q&A after the film. This is your opportunity to ask them your questions about the making of their film.

ADA ACCESSIBILITY

Catalina Film Festival works to make each of its venues physically accessible for all Festivalgoers. Advanced noticed is recommended for us to provide the best possible service. Some venues require advance notice for patrons with ADA needs. Please contact xiomara@catalinaff.org

FILM RATINGS AND CHILDREN

Mostly all of our films have not yet been reviewed by the Motion Picture Association of America and therefore do not have an MPAA rating (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17).  Therefore, parents should carefully read film descriptions and use their discretion when considering what might be appropriate for their children. The film information provided in our online and printed Festival Guide will help you make informed choices.

ACCESS TO THEATRES AND VENUES

VIP Pass holders enter first, followed by Festival Pass, Film Pass holders & individual ticket holders. All ticket and pass holders must arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to show time. As our venues can fill up, please know that a pass does not guarantee you a seat, so please be aware of venue capacities and arrive early for the most popular films and events.  One individual per seat must be present for each seat, as there are no holding seats.  Since seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, you must be present in the theatre to have claimed your seat.
